Who we are
ITS was originally established in 1990, as a value-added distributor of EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) equipment to organisations in the retail sector.
After several successful years of trading, the company expanded its portfolio of offerings to provide credit card transaction handling solutions to a select group of its major retail clients. This took the form of a Polling Bureau which enabled the retailer to outsource either part, or all of its credit card payment activities, to ITS.
By the mid 1990’s, ITS had developed links to all the major acquiring banks in the UK and card transaction handling had now become its core business. In addition to the Polling Bureau service, Loyalty Card transactions were added to the portfolio and ITS also worked with UK Banks and Scheme providers to enhance their basic card transactions. Using the banking industries existing card payment infrastructure, a Purchasing Card was introduced to facilitate simplistic invoice data transfers between suppliers and buyers. Through these leading edge activities, ITS quickly established itself as a UK market leader in the provision of software and services that met the demands of businesses wishing to accept payment by Purchasing Card.
In March 2000, ITS was acquired by the French owned Ingenico SA Group and integrated as an independent, separate service company providing specialist applications and services to support the sale of Ingenico Terminals into new markets. ITS also focussed on the provision of software and services to the Purchasing Card and Loyalty Card markets and subsequently grew successfully within the Ingenico Group.
However in 2005, due to a change of focus in its strategic objectives, Ingenico Group made the decision to sell its interests in ITS and related subsidiaries. The shareholding in the company was subsequently purchased by American Express Inc in March 2006, and the company re-branded as Interactive Transaction Solutions.
During this period of change, ITS has not changed its mission or strategies as a result of the purchase by American Express and still operates as a separate independent entity within the Amex Group of Companies.
Interactive Transaction Solutions will continue to provide specialised software and services to the Retail, Purchasing Card and Loyalty sectors, as well as provide software and services to support new innovations that add value to standard payment cards.
